Tp Link Usb Printer Controller Utility
hello,
I have a cabled network printer, Xerox Phaser 6125n, that have always worked properly from my 3 desktop computers and my laptop.
A few days ago, my old dlink router went dead, and I replaced it with the TP-Link WDR4300 router. Everything worked as usual afterwards, until I found out I could no longer print on my printer. I can access the printers web interface through the ip adress, change settings and such through the browser, but the printer has offline status in windows and print jobs never leaves the print queue in windows. I tried deleting the printer in windows (tried both windows 7 and 8) to reinstall it, but now the Add Printer Wizard can't find it. (I can't still ping the printer and access it through it's web interface). Tried adding it manually pointing it to the printers ip adress, but it won't work.
I tried hooking up an old Linksys router I found, just plugging in the printer and my laptop, and voila: windows found the printer at once and I could print. Back in the new router: no printing.
I've been through all the settings for the router, but can't find anything that looks relevant. I contacted their support, and they don't have an answer but want me to connect my printer to the routers usb port, then install their usb controller utility on my computers and use it that way. But I don't want that. First of all because my printer is located in a different room than the router, and secondly, I don't want to install any unnessesary software on my computers if i can avoid it.
Can you help me?
